Denbighshire Golf Clubs Past Captains Societys Annual Dinner

The DGC Past Captains’ Society held its Annual Dinner at Abergele Golf Club on 8th February 2009. The current Captain of the Society, is none other than the Honorary Life Vice President of our Club, Les Collins.

The guest speaker was Austin Savage, ex chairman of the Denbighshire Magistrates Bench, who played hockey for Great Britain at the Olympics many years ago, before turning his attention to golf. Austin is also a Past County Captain of Flintshire and is Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd. Austin delivered a very humorous after- dinner speech about his experiences on the bench.

The other principal guest was Mal Baynes, Captain of the Flintshire Past Captains Society.

It was a great honour for the Plassey for Les to be elected as Captain of the Society for 2008/9. The DGU 2008 County Captain , our very own Wyn Mostyn was also at the dinner, with others from the Plassey.
